sarco ar kits

Post by Michael A on Wed Dec 21, 2011 4:50 pm

Wanted to see if anyone has had any dealings with the Sarco AR-15 kits. They are priced about the same as the Blackthorne kits and i have hear bad things about them. What does everyone think? Thanks.

Don't know about Sarco, but my Blackthorne kits work fine for me.

From what I have read, the parts seem to be well used. They also have this weird cut they do to the bcg's. Im not sure if you can read these but here's a link to another forum.

Subgunfan are the parts in the Blackthorne kit new or used like the Sarco kits. The only kit i have had direct dealings with is a Del-Ton kit my buddy bought a few weeks ago. I was impressed with it, new parts and shot very well. After reading the post on ar15.com on the Sarco kits i think i will stay away from them. Thanks for the input.

I went the same route as you when I decided to build my own. I ended up buying a del-ton kit and I do not regret it at all. I have seen pictures of blackthorn kits where people took the fsb off to replace it and it had 2 gas holes and 4 fsb pin holes drilled in it. the original gas hole had been welded up but pretty much blackthorn is the biglots of ar products. I would buy sarco over blackthorn any day but theres other places out there that offer better products then both of those companies. "You get what you pay for" is a lessen I have had to learn through my gun projects. I hope this was helpful!

Yes Mr.Buttersworth very helpful. I think i will be going back with Del-Ton in the future. It helps a whole lot to have others to ask about something rather than just take a chance and waste what little extra money you may have for a project. Thanks alot for the help.

The 5 Blackthorne kits I have built have what appears to be new parts. One kit did have a minor trigger issue. The BT kits were: 2 - A2, 2 - A3, and 1 - A3 Dissipator.

I've built two Blackthorne kits and the only issue I've had (other than loose parts on the bolts that needed tightening) have been that the magazine release springs were kind of weak. It would drop the mag after the first or second shot. Easily fixed with a $2.00 spring.

The trigger problem SubGun referred to may have been on my rifle. If not, add another problem.

Had something wrong in the FCG, wouldn't stay cocked, IIRC. Didn't have time or inclination to isolate the problem, just swapped everything out with a DPMS kit. Runs great, shoots good. I'd use them again, but I think when I get around to getting a 16" I'm going to call these guys:

Good reputation, and somewhat local (SE Missouri)

Sounds like the Blackthorne kits might not be so bad if you don't mind tinkering a little bit every now and then. Checked out the Jse Surplus sight, bookmarked it for future reference. Thanks for the input guys it has been very helpful. Now if Santa Clause will bring me some money i might be able to do something with my new naked lower i got from Palmetto State Armory Wednesday. Thanks again.

Most everything SARCO sells was already discarded by someone else as being unserviceable.... so you spends your money and takes your chances.

I've built 3 delton kits and I'm very impressed by them. I built one Ar10 blackthorne kit and had nothing but problems out of it.
