suppressors for ar-15s

im looking for a suppressor for an ar-15, but not sure which brand to go with. I know it will probably come down to how much money I want to spend, but I'd really like to stay under 1000 if at all possible.Any suggestions?

I use a YHM 7.62 phantom QD stainless on my ARs. Its heavy tho.
Look into a Titanium one if you plan on doin alot of walking and carrying it.
My next purchase is goin to be the YHM 7.62 Ti can.

What all calibers you plan on using the can on?

Only reason i went with tbe 7.62 is so i can use it on everything even my 300WM.

Well I was hoping for a can for my .223 . I have a .22 conversion kit for my ar I could also use it with but I wasn't really aware what all calibers were compatible with what cans.What kind of prices do they have

Give these guys a call. I'm waiting on my form 4 to get back but I've heard a few of their prototypes and for the money, I don't think they can be beat. Not to mention, they are local.

I bet you can get two Coastal suppressors for $1,000. I have one and love it.

223's don't supress very well. They are super sonic so they are loud. If you load it sub sonic then you are quiet but barely have the force of a .22 mag. Also subsonic 223 will not cycle your AR. In my opinion if you are going to supress a 223 then get a .30 cal can so you will have other options. I have a Yankee hill .223 can and I would never buy another .223 specific can.
If you would like I have several different 30 cal cans and a 223 can you can try out. I live just up I-55 from you.

I run the same thing as nonnie and love it. Definately get a dedicated 22lr can unless u wanna turn your sealed 223 can into a paper weight.

Yea if you plan on shootin 22LR, get a dedicated can. You would be amazed as to how much crap gets accumulated in a can with dirty 22 bullets.

Not sure if that coastal can is all stainless if not nonnie is right. If its not serviceable ( able to put in the "dip" or take apart) its going to turn into an expensive paperweight running .22 through it. If you want to run 22 ammo through a can make sure it's serviceable. I need to video the next time I take apart my .22 can. It's shocking how much lead is stuck to the inside of the can.

My Coastal isn't stainless but it can be taken apart for cleaning, I shoot it on my 10/22 more than on my AR and it's easy to clean, but messy!

If you are in it for accuracy, there are better options than the SDN-6.
Groups are not that great with them at 600y. I shot a practice match with my new one 2 weekends ago, not impressed.

I dont think you could go q wrong with alton and the guys at dixie precision rifle. You can get a stainless can with titanium insides for between 650-750.

If I had choice id go with a sealed can unless it was for a 22.

I hear that DPR makes some great cans but has anyone actually put a meter on one. I don't want to sound like I am bashing a Mississippi company but for that kind of money shouldn't you make sure that you are getting the quietest can for the cash. The first can I got I was thrilled with until I shot it next to a better quality can. If I had done some research I would have found that out before I bought it.

I want to preface this by saying that I have never heard a DP can so I don't know how they sound. I can say that I have never seen any metered numbers. There are sites like http://www.silencerresearch.com/ that meter and report findings. I would hate for someone to get all fired up about a can (like I did) and buy one because it's local or easy to get. Then once they get it it ends up being something that they don't like.

Before you lay out the cash make sure you do the research so that you get what you want. Once you get your stamp it's yours and hard to get rid of if it's loud. It will piss you off every time you go to the range and shoot your can and know its not quiet. I have relegated my first can to full auto duty on a gun that rarely gets used.
