RCBS Trim Die

Post by jbpmidas on Fri Dec 23, 2011 5:27 pm

I've got a set of RCBS .243 dies that includes a trim die. What is the purpose of and how do you use this die?

If it is an older trim die you would put it in your press snug against the shell holder and then file off excess with a hand file.

Sounds exactly like the ones i have as well, RCBS induction hardens the upper surfaces
of the die to make them immune to a file so don't under ANY circumstances hit them
had with anything or allow them to fall on a concrete or other hard floor, they CAN
shatter like they're frozen, don't ask how I know this!! Funny

I spent a lot of time making brass dust with one of those. I'm glad mind's retired.
