Headspace Gauges?
I want to buy a headspace gauge to help me set up my sizing dies properly, any recommendations on which one to buy? I'm considering the Sinclairs Comparator Body (09-1000) and Bump Gage Insert (09-10200), but I'm open to Hornady, RCBS, etc. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Hmm, if you want i can ask a friend who makes custom dies if he can make a good one for you. He measures the brass you use and the bullets as like the chamber and made a real great one for me in that way. Look at Triebel-Guntools.de he has a english site too.

I have the RCBS and for headspace it works well, however the other thing it is supposed to do is determine where the bullet touches the lands. It does a horrible job at that.
I bought the Hornady overall length gauge and bullet comparitor and am pleased with the interchangeable bushings for different calibers. Their headspace gauges work the same way allowing you to measure many calibers. All the other brands are caliber specific as far as I know.

Keep in mind a headspace gauge isn't necessary for a bolt gun, just get a neck sizer.

Very nice tooling. I deal with various tooling daily and German manufactured is always of the best quality.

This is for a bolt gun and I do neck size, but eventually you still have to bump the shoulder back (using the Redding body die). That's why I want a good headspace gauge so that I don't over do it (0.001" to 0.002"). Thanks for the information on the RCBS gauge. I already have a Hornady COAL gauge (the curved one) and I agree, it works very well. I'm still leaning towards the setup from Sinclair (.308) since it's reasonably priced and looks like it will do what I need it to do, but I'm still undersided and like the idea of the Lyman case gauge.

Thanks, I will go to his web site. I've heard Hornady will make one for you as well. You send in 3 fired cases and they make you a custom die. Has anyone order a custom die from Hornady before?
