Been hearin alot about you guys shootin F-class.I take it that is target or competition, what kind of ammo do yall shoot?trying to shoot up all this remington ammo, got Aguila 22lr and it shoots pretty good and fast as well.but for the money you just cant beat winchester ammo thats just my opinion, everyone has one,MERRY CHRISTMAS & GOD BLESS.

Just look at the 22 F class postal and match scores
Be thinking along the lines of Wolf Match, Match Extra, SK, Midas + X-ACt
anywhere from from $6 a box to $24....22 shootn is much about the ammo
U been shootn crap ammo...time to upgrade
Course you did not say what your "objective" was

SK Std plus is probably the best value in most rifles, but it's still $5 - $6 box. Expect a flyer every 10 - 15 rounds or so. Moving up reduces, but doesn't eliminate, the flyers.

Rest assured you won't find any Winchester listed on the leader board
Pretty much floor sweepings...not sure I'd bend down to pick any up if they spilled out

I have had good luck with CCI Green Tag, CCI Standard Velocity and Winchester Subsonic HP's for that typ of shooting.

I like CCIs high velocity for all shooting. Stingers work good too.

CCI Green Tag should perform for you .....

If your stuck on BULK ammo, Winchester 333 seems to be the best performer for my rifle. 555 is different so don't expect it to be the same. Rem bulk is crap IMO. Federal Lightning isn't bad, but it $2.50 a box. Key is to test many different kinds to see what performs in YOUR rifle best. Lapua & Eley probably make the best stuff out there though.

CCI standard velocity is a very good plinking ammo. Not for a match though. Match ammo is EXPENSIVE!

Oddly enough Neck, I've gotten some fine performance out of W-W Power Points and
their HV HP stuff in a Ruger 7M7-22, some groups as small as 3/4" at 100yds off of a
solid benchrest and its the standard model walnut stock and blue sporter barrel.
Never tried any of their other stuff of any description though.

Re: 22 ammo what is best for the money
Wolf MT & ME, SK Standard+ & Match? I do all my testing with to see how a rifle will preform and than I'll move up to Eley or Lapua for the final tuning for BR Shooting? I got some mid .100 group's this past weekend on testing a BR Rifle, with 2 group's falling in the .098 group size? But I noticed that pretty much of the Wolf MT had the same sound from 100 round's I shot first keeping real tight group's and then changed over to the Wolf ME and was having several shot's going alittle high or low? I could tell that several of the Wolf ME ammo had some fast and slow rounds in that 100 round's I tested and could see it on the target when it happened? So right now the Wolf MT is the best going ammo to use? YBRF Rambo

Re: 22 ammo what is best for the money
The thread title says "Best for the money"....guess that all depends on the money you are willing to spend
we've said it before....especially in 22 f class shootn...money buys performance up to a point.
Personally I've pretty much set my limit at $5-$7 a box ammo (mid-priced) puts me in the SK, Wolfe class ammo
I'm sure I could shoot better with the Midas +, X-ACT, Eley class ammo but it not worth it me
What's BEST for your dollars...no one can say but you...impossible question to answer....
Good Luck in your quest

Re: 22 ammo what is best for the money
I have always liked CCI ammo from a value standpoint, but that is what I was raised on. Your best bet is to set a floor and a ceiling on what you are willing to pay and buy a bunch of boxes in that price range. Just about any mid-priced rimfire ammo is more than sufficient as plinking stock and you can find out which one your gun likes. It is a $30-50 investment on ammo you would likely burn up anyway.

We shoot all this at 50 yard's? I do all my testing at 50 yard's, my club here at Pine Belt Rifle Club in Ellisville, Ms. We have Group shooting matches starting in Feb. I've been building and tuning several rifle's for my friend's that shoot with us? I've not tried any at 100 yard's yet, but thinking about it to see what I can get out of some of these rifle's? Re: 22 ammo what is best for the money
The worst bullet I have run across lately was the Rem Golden bullets. No two were alike.
CCI Bulk is head and sholders above, and still at a real reasonable price. Still not match grade, but for me and the kids, plenty fine at 50 yrds.
