Buckshot at 100 yards? That is really good.

Re: what kind of buck shot do yall use
Buckshot size depends on what I am using it for. Each has its purpose. I like 00 or 000 for deer/hogs. I have been looking at getting some 0000 or molding some .58 caliber and trying them for hogs. Of course, slugs are always useful.
When it comes to case capacity, you can get more #1 per weight (16 @ 640 grams) in 12 gauge shell than 00 (9 @ 474 grams).
Again, each has its purpose.

Slugs are fine for hogs! We´re using the 450grs selfmade ones. Normally the bucksot is for very short distances over here.

Personally I would not try shooting a deer beyond 40-50 yards with buckshot no matter how well it patterns. 2 3/4 no 4's seems completely inappropriate for the game and distances you mentioned.

I've been using Win Super X 00 buck in 3 inch for years. I've killed several deer and even some crows that were way out of bird shot range. It works but it's pure hell on the shoulder.
The next time I stock up on buck shot it will probably be #4 in 2 3/4.

For deer I have been using Winchester 3-1/2 inch #4's but I haven't got the chance to drop the hammer on one yet. 50 yards would be about my limit.

Federal 2 3/4" 00 (Not all my shotguns and some I may "come across" if SHTF will shoot 3"). Bought a pack wally world had with three 5 packs. Bought a pack when ever I went and now have a pretty good stash. Got some 7 1/2 for in the house though.

100 yds w/ #4 buck from a 2 3/4" shell? Somebody do the ft.lbs of energy on that for me please... I like #4 Buck for close range due to the number of projectiles in a 2 3/4 shell, catch 2 coyotes for the price of one @ 25-40yds, but at 100 I don't think I'd do that...much as I despise coyotes I still want clean kills.
