Beretta 1944 .380 purchase

Post by fastarrow on Tue 27 Dec 2011 - 21:31

I found a Beretta .380 that is for sale in my area. The Guy says its a 1944 model. And he only wants $115.00 for it. He had it refinished in alumakote. Like they paint older Marlin receivers with. I'm getting it tomorrow but want to know if any of y'all have seen one. Or had an opinion on it. Also if I could have it stripped and refinished with something else reasonably?

Probably a M1934 Beretta built it from 1934-1991

Does it look like this?

The Cheetah .380 with the tip up barrel was introduced in 1976.

It looks like that. The magazine doesn't have the finger extension on it. Maybe aftermarket. It has 7.## on the slide. Can't read it all because of the finish.

I think $115 is a great price, even refinished, there are 2 on gunbroker for sale that have original finishes, one for $400(1966 model) and one for $850 that is Italian Airforce WWII pistol.

Changed my mind and called them to put it aside for me. It was sold yesterday. :-(
You second guess yourself it will cost you.

I hate it when that happens. I've lost several nice ones because I wanted to think about it overnight. crying

If it's a 1934 of wartime production which was refinished the collector value is severely diminished or zero, and they weren't exactly the most reliable handgun of the war. So don't beat yourself up too badly; as described I would say you were done a favor by whoever bought it. As a newer production also nothing special, gotta wonder why it was so cheap...

That was what made me second guess wanting it.
