.22LR Ammo test today

Post by Gebirgsjaeger on Wed Dec 28, 2011 12:00 pm

Hi,

today i´ve purchased to sorts of .22LR ammo and have done a test at the range. Reason was that i want to participate at yor .22F-Class Postal Matches. I´m not so deep into the .22 and started with the both cheapest ammo´s that my gunsmith has and i´m really surprised how they went out. Shooting was sitting position with front support, indoor at 9°C ( 48.2°F) at 100 meters.
What are you using for the .22 F-Class if it isn´t a secret?

Below are the results from our December 22LR F-Class Match ... the results also include type rifle, scope, and ammo used ..... Many will say that you need to find the ammo that your rifle likes. I have a couple Kimber Model 82Gs. One shoots Wolf Match Extra very well and the other one does not like it for some reason .... NUTS!!

Eley Black is my favorite. But SK Standard+ is close for a good bit less money.

My Kimber 82G seems to like the SK Standard Plus and Wolf Match Target. The SK seems to be more consistent though. The front and rear rest also play a big part in consistency (I used a cheap front rest this past match and it showed in the score).

Thanks guys! I had a look at midwayusa and was surprised that there is no difference in prices to our.22 ammo prices. I payed $55 for 500rds of the RWS ammo. Thought yours were much cheaper.

That would be funny, with all the high quality ammo you got on your side of the pond, for you to order some American ammo.

Don't forget to go to the Ammostore.com They carry wolf, sk and Lapua at VERY resonable prices.

Thank you for your advices!

jbpmidas, that is indeed funny but has a practical background. Normally your ammo prices are between 30 to 40% cheaper than here and the same is with the pistols. To give a example:

If you will buy a Glock G 34 at the States you can have it for $598 at "Glockmeister" And at a cheaper German trader you have to pay $ 885 even the Glock plant is only a few hours away by car. So if we have a chance to buy some gun related stuff, we try to get it from the States it is normally cheaper than here including shipping and custom.
