kill flash filter pro vs. con

Post by kowen1971 on Thu Dec 29, 2011 4:36 am

I just wanted to see if anyone had ever used a kill flash and is it worth the money to get one. They are not expensive but 20 bucks will get me a couple of boxes of ammo. Filter or no?

I had one and didn't like it on a 1x optic. The honeycomb was slightly visible and reduced clarity. I looked through a magnified optic with one and it wasn't as bad. If you are going into a situation where the glare from the glass might give away your position, then it could be helpful. 2 cents

I have one on my Trijicon reflex 42mm...I like it. Mine was much more expensive than $20 though.....

Doesn't bother me a bit. And if you use it with both eyes open like you're supposed to then you notice it even less.

Now at night.....let's just say there's a reason it screws on and off easily. It just dims up the sight picture a little too much for me in the dark....but I've also never waited until my eyes adjusted to the dark to try it

FYI here's a .05 kill flash.

I used to have a buddy who could get his hands on some broken Mass Air Flow Sensors off of cars he worked on. Instead of trashing them he kept the honeycomb "grills" out of them for me. They are made of thin Al and I cut them out with a razor blade, shot them with matte black paint and pressed them into the butler creek covers I have on my scopes.

works perfect.

I use one on my sniper and it is good for me. Reason is the you won´t get any disturbing light in it and if it rains, the lense is free of waterdrops. So i got nothing bad to say on it. But i don´t use the the extra fine ones, they gave a foggy look.
