New Slings

Post by IslandTimes on Sat Dec 31, 2011 6:48 pm

I've had a bit of free time lately, and have decided to try and market my own line of slings. In ordering materials, I realized I don't know how other people attach slings to their guns, so I figured I'd ask y'alls opinion. So, what kind of sling attachments do y'all use on your rifles and shotguns? Standard swivels, quick detach swivels, clips, or should I just try and make it universal?

Depends on gun. Hunting guns I use standard swivels. Others I go with what works best. What type slings are you making?

Still trying to work out what design would work best, but shooting for making high quality, fully adjustable nylon slings. I have couple prototypes so far, and lots of other ideas in my head, but still haven't picked a particular design yet.

It's best to leave final attachment to the customer, everyone is different and you'll kill yourself and your bottom line trying to accommodate every style.

Would also recommend a style that requires no mounts but that my be tricky with just nylon.

What kind of slings are you making? A shooting sling, or a carrying strap? If the former, I want a ching sling!

The designs I currently have are for carrying, I didn't even think about for shooting. Definitely going to have to think about new designs for shooting though.

So after lots of R&D and some very sore hands, these are the two designs I've come up with.

The sling on the left is universal and should be able to attach to most sling swivels, but the one on the right currently has to have the swivels put in during the weave.

So what do you guys think?

Nice if those are made from 550 paracord you could build a bridge out of em. They look good to me. What's your price point?

Yep, 550 paracord all the way through. The one on the left is made of more than 50 feet of it, and it looks like it may be around $50. The one on the right has over 120 feet of cord, and was such a pain that I'm not sure about price on it yet. Still have to figure out a couple things before I can set a firm price. Everything will be custom order too, so that you can choose your colors. Well... that's the plan anyway!

Well, after a long day, I have most of the website up. Only thing left to do is set up paypal and all of that. Do yall have any suggestions on improving the design? Thanks!
