.45 ACP bullets...

Post by Lt.Dan on Sun Jan 01, 2012 11:06 am

I am trying to find a good price on cast .45 bullets and I can't find anything reasonable. Maybe I am just too used to buying .40 bullets so everything seems way too expensive for me. This spring I will get into the casting world but until then I need to buy some. I already know about the big name ones like MO bullet company, Delta precision, Rainer, but am I missing one? Thanks.

I think we're going to get a casting party together sometime in early spring. Bring some lead or wheel weights and make some. There will be no shortage of different molds to choose from and plenty of help and advice on how to do it.

The last plated 45's I bought were 110 per 1000 at RMR. They are 129 now.

I´ve used the Hornady SWC FMJ in 185grs. and the HAP in 200grs.
but both are now much to expensive. The SWC is at $396 per 1800 and the HAP is at $343 per 1600. Two years ago, both were 30% cheaper.

Hopefully I will be back in the country when y'all have the next party, I should have all my casting equipment then as well. I have been looking a lot of places and I can't find bullets even worth shooting. I am waiting to hear back from my local contact on a price for GAT bullets, I get my .40 from him for $63/1k of 180gn RN. This new FNP may not get shot that much haha.

Southern Bullets, Inc. in Forest, Ms has 201 swc for $37 per 1000 and 230 rn for $37.50 per 1000. I have been shooting them for years. I don't know what the alloy or hardness is, but they don't lead my guns up. located at 8750 hwy 501, 601-536-2781

Don´t know about their prices, but have you ever tried those bullets?
Good quality and no lead in the gun.

Those are GREAT prices for lead bullets. He must have a casting machine (or two)..... and sizing/lubing machine.
