Broke in the FNP today.

Post by Lt.Dan on Sun Jan 01, 2012 3:41 pm

We did the holiday tradition today again and went to the range. I got to shoot the FNP for the first time and the wife went to town with her XDm. The FNP is more accurate than me and DA is not that bad. The wife realized it was much louder than our .40s and her 9mm. Even the kids were out there having fun chasing brass for me haha.

Thanks everyone. I had three different loads for the FNP I tried. It didn't like to eject anything with less than 4.7 grains of bullseye and it was dead one with 5.1 grains behind a 230gn FMJ RN. I tested at 7,10 and 25 yards and had great groups at all distances. I should have got pictures but I didn't. I loaded up 50 more tonight with the 5.1 grains for th next time I shoot but with 15 round mags it gets expensive quick haha. I may stick to the .40 for the high round days.

Beautiful family you've got there! It's awesome that you have something y'all can all enjoy. I know the fact that my fiancé loves to shoot is a huge deal to me.....ha I don't think she did before I came along, even though she's always been heavily exposed to it, but I think she realized if she was going to be with me she'd better learn to enjoy shooting or riding with me on the Harley's or she just wouldn't be seeing me much ha....luckily she enjoys both.

Like I said when you first mentioned buying this gun, that is my first choice when I get ready for a new .45. How do you like the tall sights? I know they're intended for suppressor use and all, but how odd is it to use them?

Yea my wife never even held a handgun until last year and nw she keeps asking me when the next time we are going to the range is haha. The FN is a great shooter, I thought it was going to be weird to shoot with the sights but they are very nice, higher up quicker to your eye haha. If you have the money to buy one all together I reccommend going to gunbroker, I paid a chunk for mine and you can get em over $100 cheaper on gunroker. This is hands down the best .45 I have ever shot, but I have also never shot the high end 1911s. But remember you have 15nd mags, it can get exxpensive quick haha.

Haha I can imagine! Anything over 8rd mags gets too expensive too quick! It's not so bad with 9mm, but still hurts your wallet quick.

The FN seems like the ideal setup though because I definitely want a .45 suppressor eventually. And it's the only double stack .45 I've found that fits my small hands well
