I saw this on Facebook posted by Students for Concealed Carry on campus. They actually posted a link from the Huffington Post.....I was shocked that it was actually an unbiased article........must've been entirely from the AP or something

I'm sorry the girl had to go through that but I'm glad she did what she had to do so her and her baby can survive

According to the news story, this brave young mother was on the phone with 911 for 21 minutes, which means that the law enforcement response time was at least that long. Now, I'm not blaming the LEOs. For all I know, this is a very rural county and the closest Sheriff's Deputy or State Trooper was at the very other end of the County. I certainly don't know, although I think the question of the response time needs to be addressed. That being said, this example simply proves that you cannot rely on the police to be everywhere and to protect everyone all the time. 911 is great, but it simply does not provide instant protection. Everyone needs to understand the concept of personal protection.

Just my opinion,

I couldn't be more proud of her. She took control of the situation! This girl should be commended for her actions by the sheriff's dept. or maybe Mayor's office. This must have been a thug that is finally where he should be.She should not think twice about her actions. She is a hero in my eyes.

Saw this on the news tonight. It's a good thing she had a gun or it could have turned out much different. I was shocked at the way it was covered in the news. They were actually positive about someone having a gun and defending themselves. They talked about the states that have the Castle Doctrine and that some states require you to retreat instead of defending yourself and your home.

Police were never intended to provide protection. Police enforce the law. No agency outside the Secret Service provideds protection. 911 does not change the mission of local law enforcement. She did right, she did well, and I applaude her. Of course had it been any number of people down here, I think they would have hung up with law enforcment and called 1-800-daddy-come-here. I don't do law enforment, I do protection.

The county I used to dispatch for was 550 (give or take a few) square miles. The city limits within the county was only about 33 square miles. That left over 520 square miles that was patrolled by the county sheriff’s department. The sheriffs department usually ran a shift of two deputies in the south, two deputies in the north, and one roving supervisor. The deputies would usually hang around the more populated areas of the county, being that is where most of the calls would come from. However, whenever call would come in from the far north or far south ends of the county, depending on where the deputies are at the time would sometimes result in a response time of 20+ minutes. That is A LOT of time for bad things to happen. I had many occasions where people would say “I have a gun, can I shoot someone if they come in my home?” My response would always be “do what you feel you need to do to protect yourself.” That way the caller could not say “he told me to shoot them” or “he told me not to shot them.”

The shotgun rules. She used the right weapon for self defense in the home. In California and New Jersey you have to retreat , if possible from a potentially deadly attack. Even if you are in your own home.

And she could not retreat as the 2nd perp was at the back door. Justice was served.

You don't have to retreat, except in the Police States.

I have firgured out why the Laws in majority DemocRATic States favor the criminal. The DemocRATs don't want you to kill their registered voters.
