Neat idea, but there would be no "PING"

There was an article in a magazine several years ago that was similar to this one. It was a lot of work to build the Garand. Part of the article was on building a M1 Carbine using a 10-22. It was much simpler.

Its available in a kit called the M1 Carbine Tribute 10/22. Im going to put one together. Cost is right around $225 not counting the 10/22.

A freind made a .223 M1A out of M1A parts and a Ruger Mini14 receiver and bolt. It has m1a sights, stock, trigger guard, gas system. He put a 1 in 8" barrel on it and it looks like a GI M1a until you look hard at it.

He also built m1a rifles in .22-250 and .243 Winchester and converted the M1 Garand rifle to have the M1a gas syatem also converted to .270 WCF and .25-06.

Inrterestin firearms that performed very well.

Sounds like some interesting guns. I wish I had the machining skills to tackle projects like that.

Marlin made a rifle. Think it was a model 99 m1? Looked a lot like a m1 carbine. Saw one in a pawn shop recently for about 150. Just didnt have the money to spare. Action was similar to the model 60.

The Marlin semi-autos are notorious for jams.

Had one of those for a while and it shot great. There's one at Easy Pawn in Pearl. Don't remember the price.

It's been there a while so they will discount it if you ask.
