chamfer job(pics added)

Post by Beladran on Sun Jan 08, 2012 4:07 pm

i got a 45degree chamfering tool ordered to cut my 38/357's cylinders since im not the best dremel operator. I have seen this tool used befor and while it does cut a good chamfer the chamfer is kinda rough. I think after i cut it I will get a wood dowel rod and shape it the best i can to match the 45degree chamfer and use a little fine lapping compound or toothpaste to smooth it out.

Any DIY guys done this?

in theroy this should be fairly simple. the tool cost as much as a chamfer job but considering i can do ALL my revos and my dads then the price is taken out of the picture

I assume you are doing the for competition but will you be able to use 9 mm's on a moon clip? I got an old model 64 you can practice on. Worse thing is having to order another cylinder. I want my SP101 to shoot 9mm also eventually.

I'd like that as well! I've got gobs of 9mm brass and hopefully won't have a 9mm soon!

Pinnacle customs makes a conversion that will let you shoot 9mm $250 I think

Cool! I need a spare cylinder for the 586!!

* MULTI-caliber conversions*

*Titanium/alloy cylinders
cannot be Multi-caliber
converted*

*S&W 6-shot L-frame cylinders
Rechamber to 9x23 and shoot-
9mm, .38 super, & 9x23!
$250.00

*Ruger GP100-$255.00

*S&W 6-Shot K-frame
$250.00

*S&W 5-shot .38 caliber
J-Frames
rechamber to 9mm!
$225.00
(I will not do this conversion on older pinned framed .38's.)

*Ruger SP101-$230.00

Yea there is no 90degree angle for a swc or the case mouth to catch on an if there is any slop on your moon clips it helps things line up

Had seen the $250 or so. Figured Beladran would cut me a break once he mastered the craft. Would like a faster way to reload 357's in it since it only holds 5. Being able to load 9 mm would be a plus since my wife has claimed it (getting old, relatives are telling me I promised them one of my pistols all the time).

ok so this is the befor shot

this after it cut the 45 and started taking out the cut marks.. i found that the nose profile of a 230gr lrn boolet +toothpast+backing soda was a awesome combo lol i drilled a small hole in the center of the base of the bullet and drove a drill bit in it. then chucked it up in my drimel.. the rest is history!

yea. i toyed with the idea of a heavier chamfer on the cylinder and light on the extractor. you can kinda see it on the two chambers on the right if you look close
