Which .45 Long Colt SA is a good one?
Hi to all,
i played with the thought to buy a SA revolver but i can´t get a decision for what kind of revolver i would vote! I have no personal experiences with them and some over here are saying the the Ruger Vaquero is great others say the Peacemakers from Pietta Arms are great and the next ones are using the Casull in .45 Long Colt. But the last one is a heavy priced one and a bit far out of the budget i want to spend. Which revolvers are you using and what are your opinions to them?
Thank you in advance.

I had a Ruger Blackhawk and loved it! It was a .357 and came with a 9mm cylinder as well.

I would recommend a Ruger Blackhawk or Vaquero. The New Vaqueros are nice, but the grip is a little short for my taste. Another I enjoy shooting, but is a bit hard to find and can be expensive, is a Schoffield.

Thank you guys!
Hmm, a Ruger New Model Blackhawk seems to be a good one but which would you recommend for target shooting at 25m the 5.5" or the 7.5"?
A Schofield is a nice revolver but what do you think about its accuracy? A friend owns a Webbley and he has some troubles with the top break.
Any other suggestions for the caliber too? I think that the .45LC is a good one with lots of reloading equipment to find but maybe a .44 isn´t that bad too?

Actually I would personaly go in the middle with a 6.5". I have a 45lc in both 4 5/8" and 7 1/2". I also have a 357 and 22lr in 6 1/2 and to me that is the best balance and makes the most accurate shooter

You can buy a Ruger Blackhawk .45 Convertible. It comes with the .45 Colt cylinder and one for .45 ACP.

Thanks, i can go with calibers between .38 up to .454 Casull for our competition rules. So you would recommend more the .357 than the .45lc?

That would be great! I have to ask if this is the same here too! Over here they are a bit picky with two rounds for one gun. Normally you need to have a extra permission for each single one of it.

how does the .357 mag work? you can always shoot .38 spl out of it.

This would be no problem. A problem is only between .45 LC and .45ACP because they will see it as two different rounds no matter that they have the same caliber.

I have a Blackhawk SS 5.5" barrel and love it. I have shot a boat load of pigs and two or three deer with it. 45 Colt is by far my favorite Mississippi Big Game round.

Can't go wrong with a Blackhawk. I want the longest barrel I can get because of my eyesight.

So i assume that i can´t go wrong with a Ruger. We have two different SA-shottings one with fixed ironsights and the other with adjustable sights and if i buy the Blackhawk in .44Magnum i couldt use it for our Supermagnum shooting too. Hmm, worth a try!

45 Colt to buy
I have a Ruger Blackhawk and would highly recommend it. As far as I'm concerned it equals any other made and is better than most. In the Hornady loading manual there is a section for the 45 Colt load for all pistols and a separate one for the Ruger Blackhawk and Tompson Center. With a Ruger you can get velocities about the same as a 44 WinMag. I load my own and they give between 1350 fps and 1400. That tells you a lot about the Blackhawk.
