IWB concealment holster recommendations

Post by stephen p on Mon Jan 09, 2012 6:03 pm

so, i'm looking to switch it up as far as what, and how i carry... right now, i've been carrying a G23 iwb with a clip draw and since it's winter, and i wear heavier clothing, it's fine for the most part.. but i generally carry with a round chambered, and while i know it's highly unlikely it will go off without a deliberate trigger pull, i just would rather have a holster shrouding the trigger. also, i'm 6'2 180 lbs, and i don't generally wear very baggy or loose clothing in warmer weather, and i'd rather keep my weapon concealed. so i was thinking about switching to a G30sf, or a commander length 1911, and i was looking at the cross breed mini-tuck.. what are your thoughts?

Raven Concealment Holsters or Crossbreed Style holster (I personally have a shielded holsters brand). I have both for my G23 and find myself using the Raven Concealment Holster the most. And I always carry with a round in the chamber, I think it's a bad idea not to because there are situations that could arise that doesn't allow you time to draw -> rack a slide -> aim -> fire.

Crossbreed, Raven Concealment, Milt Sparks VM2, or Simply Rugged with optional IWB straps.

We also have a very good holster maker on this board, EagleStroker, but I don't know that he's attempted an IWB holster yet. Can't hurt to ask though.

Good decision on bolstering up. A clip-draw is better than nothing but a quality holster is still a better option

Go with a Milt sparks VM 2 and don't look back, but they run on a six month wait.
You may can find one in stock, but not a horse hide w/shark trim(if that's what you want ).
ETA: I know to each his own, but there's no way I'd feel comfortable carrying a glock without a good holster. Covering the trigger is the only safe option....JMO

A plain black cowhide MS VM2 can be found from a couple vendors online in stock OCCASIONALLY. Topgunsupply.com has them occasionally

Picked up a Galco N3 last week for my Springfield 1911 Champion 4". I really like it.

+1 on milt sparks vmII i have two and they are great.
5" one was a 6 month wait. I found the 3" in stock from topgunsupply and had it a few days later.
this holster is totally worth the wait. Also dont forget a good gun belt makes all the difference in carrying .

Same feelings here, just got a comp-tac minotaur spartan last week and I am extremely impressed, close fitting and well hidden with a hard shell trigger cover. Conceals very well and prevents that accidental bullet/thigh related hospital visit and all the explanations that go along. Just my measly two cents.
