New Texan...
Hopefully Joe doesn't tear up again, really like this little guy. Just a plain ol 30-30 Marlin. Think I'll either put a peep sight or an old Weaver on it. The loading gate and lever on this thing are butter, wish my 1895 felt like this!

Annie isn't amused:

The shooting house:

Shot way low at 65 yds (was kicking dirt a foot in front of the target). I'll figure out How high I need to hold over when I've got a little more time and ammo on me.

Felt like Rodney Dangerfield getting the cold shoulder from my own dog...

You and me both. Need to find him an 1894 in .357 to snap him out of the funk (or for me to buy).

WOW, you get to shoot out of your bedroom window.

I told him last week that Pawn Stars in Flowood has an 1894 in .357 for only $700.
I was shocked that the hasn't bought it. It was still there today.

That room used to be the reload room til the 40x30 shop came along. Heat and air is really the way to go

Glad I don't live closer or I'd be a poorer man right now.

there are a couple guns that when i get, i dont sell. a 1894 in 357 would be one of those guns...
my 1894 in 44 mag is another, unless i could trade it for an 1894P...
when pawn stars closes their business they will still have that gun if they are waiting on me to buy it for $700!! i cant believe what these things bring...22lrfan wrote:Eaglestroker wrote:Need to find him an 1894 in .357 to snap him out of the funk (or for me to buy).

It's getting something special, I just don't know what yet. Going to get a leather set up like yours but distressed leather. I have a buffalo head nickel made into a concho that's been begging to be put onto something and this may be it. Just got to figure out where, one the cuff or on the pad. Going to teach myself how to fine lace a lever too, this ones just begging for it.
Ordering a Williams peep for it today, really wish I could strip the finish and blue the aluminum but you can't win em all. I'd like a gold bead front sight for the old school factor but have no idea where I could go about finding one.
Like I told you the other day Joe hurt now or hurt later - they ain't gettin' any cheaper.

They can be found. Heck i bet marty dont have that in both of his (knowing him. Dude can sniff out a deal).
Case hardened reciever would be sweet too.
Come to think of it, most of the older peels that were aluminum still look jice when the rest of the gun has faded... Dont they?

If you look on eBay you can find new and used Lyman 66 peep sights for the Marlins. They are blued steel. I've got them on several of my 94's and 336's. This one is new but used ones come up regularly.

Brownells and several other stores sell the gold bead front sights.

You the man.... I ordered a Williams with the target knobs, had some credit at brownells so it didn't set me back too bad.
Played with something new today. It's not how I imagined it in my head but it'll do for now.

Thanks, I'm going to try to do all the leather for it distressed like that. It goes with the wood a lot better than that pictures show.

That Mustang can't hold many more lever guns. You're gonna have to put a topper on your truck to haul them all around.

Be cool to mount a slide out gun box under the back seat.... or a rack on the cab behind the seat (out of sight). Good thing I got it fixed the poor car was tired of being a gun caddy.
