Thanks for the recommendations guys. Hard to believe this August will be 20 years since I was certified as an instructor.

Mr. Mabry, you can shoot me a text or call @ 601-906-0162. I'm happy to give you a list of references.

Take care,
Cliff

Mr. Mabry,

Good on you for deciding to seek out some quality firearms training. You are among a select few who seem to recognize the need for it.

Cliff is a good guy, and will take care of your needs as a new shooter. He won't sign any certificates saying you are "proficient" until he is sure you are just that. So don't worry about getting the quick run through just to get your money and send you on your way. I can guarantee, you will leave pleased with your new skill-set if not eager to hone it even more, as well as equipped to make your first handgun purchase.

+1,000,000,000 to cliff's training

I promise if you take some of cliffs courses you will be well on your to being a grand master shooter. Cliff has been shooting competitively longer than I have been able to hold a gun. With that much trigger time he has pretty much seen and tried it.

P.s he is very good with lady shooters. Most of us men know when we talk about guns to our women we might as well be talking in Greek, but he is able to get through that an actually teach them. (still trying to con my ol lady into a few hours of trigger time)

I would recommend Cliff as well. I initially took a self defense course from him just so I could learn how to shoot a gun if I needed to. He was very patient and a great teacher. I ended up getting hooked on shooting because it was so much fun. Started competing and training with Cliff to compete and won High Lady in Production at the last State Match. Definitely couldnt have done that without Cliff teaching me to shoot and compete. You may not be interested in competing at a match but he will definitely teach you how to operate and maintain a firearm. You wont waste your time or your money if you book a class with him.

As has been said above, I would recommend Cliff Cargill 200%. Just over a year ago I decided it was time to get a gun and figured before I bought one I should learn about shooting. After doing some research I decided Cliff was the person and took his NRA basic pistol course. If I remember correctly he said it was 10 hours total between classroom and range that was required for the NRA certification of completion. Well, I think we spent over 13 hours - maybe I'm a slow learner - but the point is he wasn't concerned about the amount of time he spent, there was no additional charge for the extra time, his concern was to cover the material and teach you to be a SAFE gun owner and shooter. Since that time I've fallen in love with the shooting sports and look forward to every weekend. Best money I EVER spent. In the last year I've come to find out that not only is Cliff an NRA instructor, but he is an NRA training instructor ( teaches other instructors) and that he has also trained and certified people on the Smith & Wesson team and a CZ team shooter who is one of the top USPSA shooters in the world, and I believe Cliff is the Mississippi State Champion in USPSA production like 8 or 9 times. If you are serious about looking for an instructor, you found the best ( in my opinion). Good luck

Going to sound like a broken record, but Cliff is your guy. Like others have said, he has a great teaching style, very patient and knows his stuff.

Seen him work with new shooters at the various matches and even in the short time frame of a match you see them improve quite a bit.

I've recommended Cliff to others seeking training and I'll continue to do so.

Cliff trained me and one of my daughters. I was so impressed with him that I am now sending my son, other 2 daughters, and a son-in-law to his class next week.
And he doesn't stop teaching you when the class is over. Every time I see him he still answers questions and gives advice.
Needless to say, he's one of the main reason I'm hooked on shooting.

Taking a class from Cliff last April changed my life... I now have a bunch of guns, gear and ammo, a fun weekend hobby, "squads" of new friends and less money in the bank!

This thread is starting to sound like a broken record, and there is a good reason for that. Cliff is the man.

I have learned TONS just from shooting in matches with him. His advice is solid and intelligible, and backed up by years of professional training.

From what I have seen he is awesome with youth and new shooters. He makes it fun and interesting for them while engraining safety and the fundamentals.

Cliff is a personable, stand up guy. Don't hesitate to sign up for his class!

Oh BTW.... He can shoot!!!

Well at this point it seems like everyone's vote has been cast, but I'll throw mine in as well. I've spent the past couple of years watching Cliff and I've learned a lot from watching him shoot.

You're in Richland so you're already close to the range Cliff uses. I can assure you, you won't be disappointed.

+1 on getting the training first. You'll get to try out several different guns and find what you like the best first without buying them all and later trading them as I have done. Plus everybody needs training. If you ever use it you want to be uncounsciously competent.

I really dont have much to add to what has been said already. No matter what your level of shooting is, Cliff C can make it better and teach you the correct way of shooting and most importantly, proper safety with gun handling and on the range.

I also highly recommend Cliff. He recently did an "enhanced permit" class at Capitol Gun Club. He went above and beyond in every way. The course itself is very, very basic, and it is up to the instructor to make it interesting. He did just that, worked with each individual on shooting position and technique, and EVERYONE felt like they learned something and had a great time -- even that ole shotgun pro John Satterwhite looked like he enjoyed himself.

I've known Cliff for a long time, and I've known tons of people that have taken classes from him. I've never known anyone that didn't thoroughly enjoy it and - in fact - become hooked on shooting.

Cliff is a class act.

I have to echo everyone else. Cliff not only has a proven track record with a pistol, he has a proven record as an instructor. You have people that teach and you have teachers. Cliff is a teacher. I watched him give a quick lesson to a new shooter the other day and was absolutely amazed at the results. It took me 5 years to learn on my own to shoot as well as she was in 15 minutes. He is a very natural teacher, you won't be disappointed.
