Craigslist find

Post by canebreaker on Wed Jan 11, 2012 4:05 pm

I found a listing on craigslist the other day. With a picture, it looks like a Lee 1000 press with dies. Another press that looks like for shot shells. A box of brass and a box of boolit molds. I contacted the seller, asking what all he had. Not much in replies from him. He said he would update the ad. What I saw was he CAPED all the letters.

As soon as I get some info from him, I'll be putting some of it on sale here.

I talked to the guy, will be headed there at first light, after the bank opens. I have first dibbs at it. It sounds as if he is selling off his dad's stuff, after death. He's still not sure of what all he has, still digging. But he gave me a price for all of it.
Some of the stuff I don't need and will be up for sale.

I bought it all for $300. Everything he had, except a gas fired burner.
This stuff came from an estate sale. Stuff was in a basement, so I have some green stuff. The shotshell press doesn't move, I have it sprayed down with PB blaster for now. 3 slug molds, 2- 7/8 and 1- 1oz. Like I said, some of this stuff will be up for sale or trade. So be ready.

I have a Lee loadmaster and no clue where I am. I broke the case pusher thing tonight. I can't get the expander die to open up a case to take a jacketed boolit.
With what I got: I got a bunch of wrinkled cased ammo, both jacketed and leads.

I now have the enhanced weapons permit. I took the training class monday night and the range part last night. MS will go to this in the furture. Instructor Oscar Irvin can be reach at 901 314 1238.
I bought a 9mm, Smith & Wesson sw9ev, fired off a few rounds after finishing the test part. This ammo was the best part of the craigslist I bought. I had 4 primers that went snap, 3 were squibs. 6 or 8 cases that didn't open the ejector port. 6 or 8 that hung in the ejector port. Some barely rolling out of the port. 2 or 3 that really went bomb.
I was working on pulling boolits from the worse looking cases. But after that, I'll pull them all. Reload the better looking cases and scrap the rest.

I got this loadmaster up and going tonght. I've done about 25 9m so far. Issues with the shell plate nut. Then a few double charged cases while messing with the nut. I'm watching everything, a bit slow now.

I finished up with 95 loaded, all were around 29, mm long. I didn't readjust anything. Tonight I started it up again, after a few, I noticed I was getting short rounds. I didn't check the seating die before starting. It was full of alox. It will spend the night in paint thinner. Clean it up for tomorrow night.

Ok, I loaded 1 1/2 30 cal cans of 9m ammo on this Lee Loadmaster. Now I want to move on to something else. 38 spl., nope the cases won't go through the shell plate for feeding. I look online and order a new plate kit for large cal. I got it in the mail today, nope they won't go through. I got the same as I have. I double check the site and found this. There are 3 different size shell feed plate kits for the press, but only 1 part number. I sent them an email, hope they can correct the problem.
TR2449A, TR2449D, TR2449E= 90663
There should be 3 different 90000 numbers.

Dang the heck I'm getting from Lee.
They post the wrong part. I order it. Now they want me to ship it back and order the right part.
Shipping to me was 5.81, what's it going to cost to return?
Then another part with shipping on it. No way.
They didn't post it right, they ought to have to pay for the return.
If I have to pay to return it, get my money back and go elsewhere to buy it.
And stay off their site.

I guess customer satisfaction is a thing of the past, sad to see it go.

Lee has been nothing but good to me. I had a few issues with my Loadmaster and ended up shipping it up to them for them to fix and go through it. They second day shipped it back to me with a bunch of new parts and it has been working like a dream ever since. I talked to John Lee himself and they took good care of me, and even gave me a discount on parts off their website. Good luck.

Another run around email from them today. Like I can't read their parts list.
I looked again, Ah, they don't have replacement case tubes listed either.

My son bought a lee 1000 off ebay for a good price in december, but it's lost in the mail. Finally got a refund, seller sent a message, "if it shows up".
I checked out craigslist and found a good working loadmaster a few miles away. It has turrets set up for 38 spl., 357 and 9m and a ton of spare parts. A rcbs powder measurer and scale, and a few extra tools. A large box of plastic cases with a ton of 9m, 38 spl. and 357 brass. Another large box of all kinds of bullets for both, lead and jackets. I got it all for 200. It was a fun 4 1/2 round trip. I stayed there close to an hour talking over his set up.
