I am the poster child for the NFA addiction. I really like liberty gear. They areagrwatbunch of guys and Make a quality product. Check out the mystic hands down the most versatile ,22 can on the market. The problem is it is big. But u can shoot 9mm subsonic 223 and subsonic 308 as wellas 22 and17. I would also look at the sparrow. Clean and quiet. I have never been overly impressed with the tac solo cans. Given the choices I would go with any liberty over the tac solo.

Im sure Dock Rocker has a can or two you can try out if you be nice to him. I dont have one but will have one in the distant future. Good luck with your decision.

I second the vote on the Liberty. I have a Mystic and love it. The only 22 can I have now is a Spectre and I really enjoy it on my Mark III.

#1 rule for 22lr suppressor. Get one that disassembles. Other than that it's like anything else. They all do the job, some better some worse.

Yes, I agree. I have a prodigy and am waiting on an element to get approved.

Keep in mind, too, that cleaning a 22 suppressor isn't like cleaning a firearm. Interior surfaces of the suppressor will build up with a mixture of carbon and molten lead. Typical cleaning solvents won't touch it. Suppressors not used for 22 are much easier to clean - 22s are just filthy.

Some people report good results by scrubbing the interior parts of the suppressor with a wire brush - all that did in my case was slightly polish the rock-hard melted on buildup. I personally use an air compressor and blast the silencer internals with glass beads, throwing away the media when I'm done since it's saturated with lead dust. This method cleans really well and doesn't affect the metal surface at all. Others do the same thing with baking soda (soda blasting).

I've read about people who have had good success using an ultrasonic cleaner, but I don't have any experience with them. Finally, there's a chemical mixture known colloquially as "The Dip" that you can make with common household chemicals. It will dissolve lead and render silencer parts squeaky clean. However, the left over solution is extremely toxic, very dangerous, and must be disposed of as HAZMAT. I've stayed well away from the dip.

Man that dip scares me. I am an engineer at a research laboratory. After reading the MSDS on some, I do NOT mess with our chemicals. HF will eat your bones away, through your skin! I dont like not knowing what I would be creating with that dip. Its not something you can just throw away in your back yard...

I noticed that when i use white lithium grease in my prodigy, even after some buildup. If i coat the inside and let it sit, I can wipe off most of the carbon buildup with a paper towel Smile easy peasy. I need to test this out with some more intense buildup and post some pics sometime of a before - after.

I sent AAC a note about using ultrasonic. They said not to use on anodized aluminum as it will slowly destroy your anodizing. This stopped my purchase of an ultrasonic cleaner...

Soda blasting and glass beads are something I want to try in the future. I just got myself a small air compressor for Christmas! Smile

Neat idea about the lithium grease. I bought a product called "Bore Butter" after reading about it on silencer forums. It works in a similar way - you just put a thin layer on before assembly and it makes cleanup easier. I only have the one 22 can, but I'm thinking my Spectre is probably one of the harder ones to clean. The baffles have a lot of little nooks and if you don't get all the crap out of them they won't fit back together in a stack. They lock into each other sort of like Legos.

My experience has been that semi auto 22s are filthy, but FA 22s are TERRIBLE. I ran my subgun with a 22 conversion on my Mystic with a Gemtech 3-lug mount and I was amazed at what a mess it made after only 500 rounds (Remington Golden bullets). I had to blast off the crap from the 3-lug mount before it would even fit on another weapon. I won't do that again - I've decided to run the 22 FA unsuppressed.
