M1 Garand.......cant get em out of my mind.

You might as well join the rest of us weirdos at the CMP store. I've got a customer in Vance, AL so I'm pretty sure that I can make a business trip out of it.

I've had a Garand on the mind for about 3 years. I'd hoped it would go away.....it didn't.

CMP, just go ahead and get 1,2,3...... you better get one before they run out if they actually do run out you will kick yourself in the arse when you didnt get one. I have my dads he got back in the mid/early 80's and love it.

The only place to get a garand, if you can go in person the guys/gals there will help you out in every way possible to make you happy as you want to be. I have not been yet but know several people on here who will vouch for the workers at the CMP stores.

Jump on in -- the water is just fine .. however, they do have a way of reproducing ..... BTW: Get it from CMP!!

I'm afraid there is no cure for "M1 fever" . Get a couple and it will help, but you'll probably want more .

I remember an M1 Clinic we did at the McComb range. There were 14 M1 Garands firing simultaneously in rapid fire. 14 x 8 .30 cal going downrange in 60 seconds. Doug looked at me with a grin and said "that's a whole lotta Whoop-%ss going down range!" I wouldn't want to be on the other end of that either!!
Get qualified with the CMP to get an M1 (easy to do) and get one, they aren't making any more and the prices continue to rise.

The only known cure is to get one--or two--or---------------!!!!

Yep. There goes the Captain showing off again. I hope he drove the speed limit going home after the tribute on Christmas eve or could have had a lot of explaining to do.

I've been thinking of picking up a garand, but I know nothing about them. So these were made by different companies, right? Is one type preferable to another?

I would probably be getting one in the $500 - $700 range. For those of you who are familiar with these rifles, which would you recommend?
