Browning A 5 Value

Post by newto228 on Sat Jan 14, 2012 6:49 pm

Hey guys, I have a friend who is selling a Browning A5, I haven't had time to look it over but he says it's in good condition, anyone with a blue book able to tell me a ballpark figure of what it's worth? I assume its a 2 3/4. I appreciate it.

Age and condition are everything on the A-5's. The older ones were made in Belgium and are worth more than the Japanese ones. There are a lot of nice ones out there so the price goes down fast if they are not near mint. I see lots of them in pawn shops. Well worn shooters go for $450. Nice Belgiums are $800 and up.

Condition, where it was made, age and if engraved all contribute to value. Older Belgian models were less than 2 3/4, I think 2 5/8. Many were reamed out to accept the longer shells and that contributes to value.

Not trying to steal the thread. I was just given one of these by my father in law. It has improved cylinder barrel, would it be ok to shoot steel shot out of this?

Steal away. Someone might as well use it.
