Question about AR stripped lowers for a pistol

Post by jakeg823 on Sun Jan 15, 2012 7:41 pm

I bought 4 of the PSA lowers back on black Friday and since I had so many taking up space and I don't have the means to do anything with them in the foreseeable future, I sold one to my fiance's dad.

Well he mentioned last night that he was thinking about building a pistol out of it.......I told him I was pretty sure it would have had to have been transferred as a pistol to begin with but I wasn't sure. I've seen brief mentions of it before on here, but I told him I'd see what I could find out. Is there anyway to have it legal to make into a pistol now? Or is it too late and he's just SOL? I'm just trying to keep him from doing something that is potentially illegal since he never thought of it this way, and neither had I until I'd seen it on here.

If it was listed as rifle, then you have to make it a rifle. If it was "receiver" or "other" then you are gtg.

A bare receiver should have been transferred as such, it could legally be built as either.

Hahaha no I'm down to my minimum now, because I also just sold one to her Brother-In-Law since he wanted another. So I've got enough now to do the two projects I had in mind from the beginning.....once I find work again that is.

One is going to turn into a dedicated .22, and the other is going to be a SBR on down the road, possibly in 300blk.

Most FFL's do it this way unless you are in Kalifornia or some other commie place.
