I have a bsa platinum 8-32 on my savage 22 and it gets dark when cranked down. Check out the weaver fixed power 32x targget scope if its a target gun. I hear it is clear and fairly bright. Not sure about price tho

This is as good as you are going to do for under 200 bones.

This one has mildot and side focus. I'm looking at it for a .22. When you crank up the power it will get dark with it only having a 40mm objective.

Look at what "shooters edge" has to offer. I bought a 6x24x56 with a 30mm tube for right around $200.

I will not buy another BSA if possible. I have done learnt that lesson. But it works and has put some meat in the freezer. I like Leupold. I hope you find one that suits you for that price.

The nitrex that I recommended is the same scope as the weaver grand slam that cost 600. It would be the only one in your price range that will make repeatable adjustments if you are cranking up and down on the turrets for different yardages. If you get one of those others, make sure it has a hold over reticle, because it will not last long cranking turrets up and down constantly. That's the reason expensive scopes are expensive, the internals are accurate and repeatable.

I just received my new Nitrex TR1 4-16x50 scope from Natchez this evening. As I said I was burned by that BSA and have bought 2 Leupold VX-II scopes in the past year. But that Nitrex by Weaver caught my eye (at 1/2 the price of others) and thanks to the various positive forums comments, got one. It's mounted and looks great, very clear glass, comparable to the Leupold it displaced. I am happy and expect its gonna shoot well when it gets a chance. Thanks for the tips on what to consider!

I've never looked at a Nitrex. Gonna have to check them out after seeing the comments here.
