Yup, if your eyes are still good with those sights & a rest you could harvest a moose at 500 yds... or in Finnland I guess that'd be elk / reindeer. Amazing what the Finns did with all those Russki Mosins that fell into their hands during the Winter War and the Continuation War! The Finns never manufactured a single receiver - just rebarrelled, restocked, generally took the (Soviet) receiver & made a much better rifle.

Do you think they make some scope mounts that would work on that rifle?

I have two of these, both have the scope mount base. Approximately 900 of these were ever built and it's estimated 10% had the scope mount base. The scope mounts are very rare, they usually go for about $500. It slides into a tapered dovetail in the mount base and is locked by a knob. When you want to remove it there is a lever to break it loose. I made a piece that would slide into the mount base and attached a Redfield type base which has worked very well.

I'm building a Finnish Tkiv-85 sniper rifle currently. It is the last variant of the Mosin Nagant and is still in service with the Finnish Army. I was lucky to find almost all of the parts, new in the wrap in Finland.Every part of this rifle is unique and I believe it is the only one outside Finland. It uses the same scope mount except it has 30mm rings instead of 26mm. The attached picture is of Tkiv-85 disassembled.
