Ruger Redhawk

Post by 22lrfan on Wed 18 Jan 2012 - 21:21

Happened to drop by a local shop today and found this laying on the counter. Didn't realize how oddball it was till I got home and did some reading. It's a 5 1/2" Redhawk in .357 Mag. From what I have read so far Ruger started chambering the Redhawk in .357 in 1984 and discontinued it prior to the introduction of the GP-100 in 1986. Around 5000 were made. This one is a 1984 model.

I have it's twin! These things are built like tanks and feel like a .22 in your hand even with the hottest magnums. You will like it!

Shot a few .38 wadcutters in it and there was practically no recoil. Can't wait to see how it groups.

Built like a tank, just never found em particularly attractive LOL. Nice find those redhawks are really popular and have good resale. A vet my BIL practices with used a 44 mag version to put down animals til he cut a utility line with it!

All I know was he put down a cow with it, and the clinic got a fat bill from the utility company to cover damages. Just happened to be under the cows head....some kind of luck LOL.
