Mag mod for Rem 700
I just bought a Remington 700 VPS in .308. I have been looking at Brownell's for a magazine modification for it. I was expecting maybe one or two, but found several and not just at Brownell's. I need help on a recommendation. I am not looking for a cheap one. I am looking for a quality and the ability to buy mags for it. I don't want to end up with one that will jam all the time or one I can't get mags for. Any suggestions?

Their are several out there that uses AICS mags, so you might want to look at a few different designs to make you final decission.

Cdi, accurate mag, Seekins, Hs precision, Battle arms development.... Yep there are a few to choose from if you got a Remington, a savage on the other hand is a different story.

Have you checked pricing on mags? I would take that into consideration as well.

Get Badger and use Alpha Industries Type 2 mags. Way better than AI and cheaper too. Some of us are testing the mags for the Ruger Gunsite rifle, with a little work they should be a cheap alternative.

I can’t disagree with anything above. Badger Ordinance makes some fine stuff. I’d suggest rethinking the mag modification though. You’ll lose the ability to top load one round at a time. It doesn’t seem like much but consider a situation in which your mags are empty and you need to make a shot right now. The ability to top load a single round could equal the ability to drop that last fast moving coyote. You knows? It could even save your life. Mag fed bolt guns are cool but I don’t think they’re worth the trade off. Opinions are like but holes though.
