Replica 03A4's and 1903A1 USMC snipers

Post by PhillipM on Tue Jan 24, 2012 8:52 pm

I was about to pull the trigger on an 03A4 replica for a vintage sniper match and now I'm glad I held off. Leatherwood has finally gotten their 8x Unertl copy in production!

I never liked the eye relief on the 03A4's anyway.

If I ever get one we will have to do a match, they are shot as teams, a firer and spotter at 300 and 600

Sounds like fun. Unertl's come up regularly on eBay. I've bid on several but haven't got one yet. There's a 20x (I think) Unertl on a rifle at Swann's that is on consignment. I would love to have the scope but the owner wants to sell it as a package.

What kind of rifle is it? Could always sell the rifle and keep the scope.

A 20x Unertl, while a neat thing to have, is not legal for the CMP vintage sniper matches.

1903 Springfield (1941) Any Unertl 6X or 8X with 1 – 1.5” objective, Lyman Junior Target spot 6X or 8X, Leatherwood Malcom 3X or 6X, Winchester A5, Lyman 5A. Any scope up to 8X with an objective no larger than 1.5” with external adjustments only. No recoil springs on scopes.

It's an Anschutz .22. Not sure which one. I'm left handed so the stock won't fit me plus the guy wants $2400 for it.

I want to put it on one of my old .22's. It would be perfect on my BSA Martini.
