Charcoal cannon

Post by Joe S. on Tue Jan 24, 2012 11:32 pm

Picked this up tonight. It was in the proximity of a fire. Wood is burnt bad enough that its not usable but wasnt burnt off the gun. Gonna try to find somewhere that can test the metal for me to make sure it is still where it meeds to be hardness wise. It was a 25/06. If the action is usable i plan to have it re barreled to 444 marlin. It is/ was a Ruger #1.

Can anyone point me to a reputable business that can test the metal for me. Know im gonna have to replace all springs and any plastic that was on the gun.

Since the wood appears only sligthly burned, I would say the metal is OK. I don't think the metal got hot enough to do damage.
