Todays box of goodies came in.......

Post by beltfed on Wed Jan 25, 2012 5:29 pm

....and heres what was inside:

Did some creative bartering and ended up with this Socom II in a Troy MCS. Came with the EoTech w/ box and papers, a complete compliment of Sadlak tools, 5 Springfiled brand 20 rounders with the mag pulls and a jar of lubriplate.

Now my biggest issue is do I keep it in "battle rifle" form or ditch the bolt on goodies and put a nice 3-9 power scope on it with a bipod?????

Now, THATS a rifle to get excited about! Smile
I have not seen an M1A dressed like that before.
As the short barreled SOCOM is not a sniper rifle, the current sighting system seems appropriate for the current configuration.
A 2.5x LER scope might be a useful alternative, but a 3x9 scope just doesn't seem right on such a battle rifle as yours.
Your pictures have caused a bit of drool to appear & soak my T-shirt.
Smile

Thanks guys for all the compliments. I'm happy with it. I think I'll keep the eotech on it like oldironsights said.

I do agree that it is a bit busy Subgunfan, and it is heavy, heavier than I like actually. I have a standard M1A that I enjoy very much. I usually break it out when I watch Full Metal Jacket.....haha

Cottonmouth, thanks but you guys wouldn't believe me if I told yall but I have only $51 out of pocket for this rifle.......creative bartering.

Looks heavy!!

But is neat lookin. Think id rather have it in stock form and id bet you could recoup a lot of your money from selling off the extras...

It is heavy. The standard SOCOM comes in at 9.3 lbs and according to Troy's website the exact same stock I have "only adds 1.5 lbs" so that brings it to 10.8 lbs. I weighted this gun in at 12.6 in its current configuration. I could get it down to the 10.8 maybe if I ditch the flashlight and laser. I'll see what that does and report back.

If you decide to ditch the Eotech inbox me. I'm in the market for a used optic.

I plan on keeping the EoTech unless I can trade it for a micro aim point to cut weight. Sorry.
