What what I've seen and read, sounds like those folks had no business running a zoo, glad they shut them down.

It would seem that way, but I'm always sceptical of the liberal news reports, especially when that's the only reports available. I'd really like to know the rest of the story. If they were a danger to the area, so be it, but if this is just another case of tree hugger meddling, I feel sorry for the proprietors. They've been down there for a long time and I don't remember any negative reports in the past, however in fairness to all, I could have missed them. Sad thing is, the animals might be euthenized and that seems like such a waste. Heck, if that's their destiny, turn them loose and let us hunt them. Deer season is just about gone, so we need something to keep us occupied and out of trouble.Smile

I live very close to the zoo in Collins and have visited many times. The conditions wasn’t great but not nearly as bad as the press and government accused in my opinion. Most of the animals was pet’s the that got too big for the original owners so the they was donated this family in Collins instead of having them put down. I never in my visits felt in danger and rather enjoyed the sounds of lions and tigers roaring sitting on my porch at night. I think the biggest travesty is the city and county not getting behind this small place and making it a really nice attraction because they had the best and most large cats I have seen at any zoo across the south east. The family could only do so much on the donations they received and I personally donated to them often. While I don’t agree at all with the raid and the way it all was done I do hope all the animals end up in a better place.

I will miss most of all the three panthers Goldie, Shadow and Midnight.

I like the Collins Zoo, been stopping there for years going between Clinton and Hburg. This isnt the 1st time they have been shut down, it's like the sixth. They always come back. Someone has it out for them. I have met the owners and they are nice people.

Yeah I think its a tree hugger thing. I've always wanted to stop in and check it out when I was driving down 49 just never had the time to stop. I know its been there a long time and the conditions didn't look to bad and the wolf hybrids didn't seem to be fighting or resiting the people. I use to know a girl in Madison whose mom raised wolf hybrids for sale in Madison, but they moved to Alaska and I don't know if they still raise them or not. They are a real pretty animal.

And one other thing, some of their animals like several lions and tigers are old. If they would have been in a regular zoo, they would have already been put down. At least they get to live, have a clean cage, are taken care of and fed.
