Making your own hollow points
This was posted on another forum and I wanted to see what you guys think of it. Tried to copy the pictures but couldn't figure out how, so here's the website.

Apparently, it's a kit that lets you drill small holes in either a 22LR or 7.62x25 tok round, in theory giving you cheap hollow point ammunition from FMJs. Opinions on the other forum were mixed, so what do yall think?

If you do it just for hunting or plinking I'd say go for it. Home defense is a no go for me.

Looks like it could work. Probably won't be concentric on the inside giving you unstablized flight and decreased accuracy, but it may work for you.

For 22s - just buy them that way (HP) .. for all others, cast your own would the "best" way to go.

Re: Making your own hollow points
There've been a number of such tools for 22 over the years. They mostly get reasonably good reviews for aiding in accuracy and expansion. Useful for target shooting or varminting probably. I guess if you had to defend yourself with a .22 with bulk pack ammo, they might help, but you probably have bigger problems in that case...
Paco Kelly's Acu'Rzr (down about 2/3 of the page) is a common one. Gunblast has a complimentary review of it (the original in 2002 with some updates, and a quickie on a different nose shape last summer), and there's one at leverguns with some pictures too. There was another one I remember hearing about years ago, that was a die you dropped the round into and then licked a file across the nose a few times; can't remember the name.
Here's another thread reviewing a different related tool; I believe it's the one this guy is selling.
I've never read anything about them in calibers other than 22 rimfire. I seriously doubt you'd get results remotely comparable to premium hollowpoints in centerfire rounds.

Pretty needless to me. There are so many HP bullets out there that ithink you could buy enough for the costs of those tools.
