Re: One Bad Mauser
We were all standing around scratching our heads when we saw the rifle. I was wondering what it was. Thanks for the info guys. I'll admit that I'm no expert when it comes to old school foreign military guns.

Re: One Bad Mauser
Yeah I have seen quite a few over the years. About 6 years ago I found an all-matching Swede M1896, stock had been bleached to a light blonde color, the stock disk had been replaced with a medallion with an engraving of a deer, the front sight had been removed (barrel was cut down) and the bolt had been bent. Was drilled & tapped for a scope mount. It was in excellent condition, every numbered part matched! -it hurt to think of what it must have looked like in its original configuration! Nevertheless I wish I'd have bought it ($200) and used it to hunt with. The 6.5x55mm has a really flat trajectory and the 140gr bullets are great for deer, coyote, etc. ; it's all I hunt with.Joshua wrote:Very interesting! Thanks for the info. Like I said though, it was already "bubbarized" when we got it.
