I really wish I wouldn't have read about the Jewell triggers that's prolly gonna cost me 200 bucks.
The one I want is adjustable from 1/2oz to 3lbs

Very nice looking rifle.
I have the Jewell trigger and here are a few reasons I like it-
1- You can easily change the trigger out yourself
2- You can get it with or without the safety (don't really need it for f-class)
3- Mine is set to 4 ozs
Benchrest trigger with bolt release $189.

I dont think the ole 308 will make it that far lol
Sure it will. You just have to go pick up the bullet and carry it the last 3/4 miles.

Haha.
The last box of 22 bullet i got said dangerous withing 1.5 miles.
Wonder if a sheet of plywood would be scared?
Ive got a EGW 20moa base, Burris XTR low rings with a 56mm scope and it fits nice.

I don't think a sheet of Saran Wrap would even be.

Re: Remington 700 SPS Tactical
I tinkered around with setting my scope today while still breaking in the barrel.
I decided to try a 5 shot group even tho my target was busting and you can't really measure it
It's about 5/8"ish

At 100 yards that's a good start. A good 1/2 moa or less group at 100 is the goal. 1/2 moa is 3" at 600, which is also the size of the X ring on an F-class target. The 10 ring is 6". By having the 1/2 moa group ability at 600 allows you more room for error.
Example: if you shoot a 1/2 moa goup at 600 yards, you have 1/2 moa (3") of movement to say in the 10 ring. If you're shooting 1 moa groups at 100 yards, at 600 yards you have 0 movement as your groups are already the size of the 10 ring. Keep working on those groups, you're on the right track.
If I can make a comment on barrel break in it is this. There are several schools of thought on how or if it should be done. The method I have found works for me is to shoot 5 rounds, then clean the barrel and observe how much copper fouling I have and how many patches it takes to clean. If it is not much (3-5 patches), I just go shoot the rifle. If it is more, I shoot 5 more rounds and repeat the cleaning until it shows little fouling. But, even doing this I use the time for load development or just good trigger time. I am sure others have their own opinions. This is just mine and was based on advice from the High Masters I shoot with at Palo. YMMV
I went Expert at the Palo Alto Regional in Aprl 2011 with a new barrel I had just had put on and had exactly 30 rounds through it because I had to readjust my load due to a shorter throat. I won the combined SS/Marksman class. I have over 1500 rounds through it and it still way outshoots me.
