Made In America

Post by TankerHC on Mon Jan 30, 2012 5:10 am

I was reading a Yahoo Article about things not made in the U.S. and someone posted this link. It shows everything you can think of that is made in America, this is the Gun Made in the U.S. directory. It's pretty interesting.

I don't see Winchester on the list. They closed the plant that produced the 94 and 70 but I think they moved the 70 production to another plant.

FN Herstal assembles the Model 70 in South Carolina, but from imported parts, its more than 75% made from imported parts so does not qualify as "Made in USA", all other Winchesters are made in Japan or Mexico.

I noticed H&R, Marlin and Savage were missing from their list. I could have sworn at least one if not all of those manufactured in the U.S. .

Some gun manufacturers are missing, they can be assembled in the U.S. and up to 25% parts can be foreign, but if more than 75% of the parts are manufactured outside the U.S. the the FTC doesnt keep them on the list. What surprised me is that the Chevy Silverado and Ford F-150 no longer qualify to be called Made in the U.S.A, there is only one full size Made it the U.S.A truck on the list, the Toyota Tundra. The Tundra has more than 75% parts manufactured in the U.S. and is 100% assembled in the U.S.
