Colt A2 in Magpul Flat Dark Earth

Here’s a Colt AR-15 project that we’re just about to wrap up. It just lacks a little touch up work and then she’s going back to her home. All of the metal with the exception of the quad rail, bolt, and carrier have been Duracoated with self lubricating Magpul Flat Dark Earth. This has become one of our favorite colors. It matches the Magpul accessories and doesn’t have that slight gold shade that the woodland tan has.

On a side note: If any of you guys work on your AR-15 A2 uppers on a regular basis I would HIGHLY recommend investing in a rear sight instillation tool. Midway sells them. They’re a huge time saver. I used one for the first time on this job and will never go back to the days of needing three hands. Sure, you can complete the job without one but nobody likes chasing springs and detents around the room. Every AR-15 tool kit should have one.
