Gander Mountain lowers Fed M855 to WMart price*

Post by Scharfschütze on Fri Feb 03 2012, 20:06

Just got the Gander advertising circular out of the mailbox today. They show the Federal 420-rd can of 5.56 NATO 62gr FMJ ammunition for $149.99*. The * ? "After $30 Gander Mtn mail-in rebate". I guess they got tired of having to match the Wal-Mart price and are counting on people not dealing with the hassle of the rebate, or are having a hard time getting Federal to refund their overcharge vs. what WMart paid for the same product! I will stick with the great Wal of china Mart and skip the hassle of a mail in rebate!

I'm telling you - especially with the Gander location in H'burg, they have 2 locations of WMart in H'burg to compete against, one only about 1 1/2 miles away, who is going to buy it for $179.99 and go through the hassle of a mail-in rebate?? That's what happens when bean counters run things...or maybe they didn't negotiate wisely with Federal when they made the purchase. I understand WMart really drives a hard bargain before they make a purchase from a supplier, and they generally get what they want 'cause they will make such a massive purchase. I suspect Gander just didn't get the same deal from Federal as WMart.

Brownells had it for less than that, if you bought 2 cans. You could get it for 230 delivered. You had to go to a coupon site first. I'm looking for it now.

With the draw-down in Iraq and soon to be (if the O can be believed about this) in Afghanistan, I bet the cancel option is being used on a LOT of Defense Dept. contracts. Look for lots of mil-spec stuff, not just ammo, to hit the market. So I won't be surprised if the $149 at WM is lowered in the near future.

Thats my bet too. I'm saving my money now so I can get stuff. Already my new boss told me troops are bringing stuff back and selling like crazy because they get new stuff when they get back. He has been in the reserves over 20 years.

Still too high. Widner's and Palmetto State Armory have better deals and you don't have to fool around with rebates.

How much are they incl. shipping? WM is $159.49 w/ tax = .379 per round.

Looks like Widner's has IMI 855 for about .34 per round including shipping. That's a 1200 round case though.

PSA has Federal M193 for about .30 per round including shipping.

Now wait a min.... thinking

Every year I see people filing their income taxes right after they get their W-2.

Can't wait to get their "refund" from the goverment...the thought of them giving the government an "interest free" load for a year escapes their feeble minds... lol

...while I do good to even get all my paperwork together by April 15 and have never gotten a refund in 30 yrs.

So how is waiting on a rebate any different...cept it might get lost in the mail going to the "processing centers" manned by illegal Mexican workers in El Paso

I'm just saying

anyway...pushing a button and having it show up on my front door in a couple days is a lot mo better if you ask me...unless I need to put an eyeball on something....anytime I can avoid going to a store...I do it

This stuff may dry up fast, I mentioned it to Turkee the other day and it raised his eyebrows.

Ordered from Palmetto last week. Two cans (840 rounds) to my door for $299.98 for a grand total of 35.7 per round.
