ANy of you old timer military guys, or experts in Military weapons know what this is?
Apparently its something for a rifle, but what rifle and how is it used?
Someone mentioned on the Army Kaserne FB Page that it looked like a detente tool for an M16, I carried M16's and M4's in our tanks in the Army for years, and all we ever used was a nail. Never saw anything like this for use.

If it is large enough, and appears so from your picture, could it
be a front sight pusher tool for a dovetailed sight, is the "handle"
part to the right threaded like a screw?

You know, someone else on the page said it could be for a dovetail sight too. But no one agreed, I think you might be right.
EDIT: One question I would have though is how would it be used? I Google Imaged for it and all the other pushers have an opening on the bottom.

Looks similar to the front sight pusher people build for Swiss K-31

IF the one Tanker put up doesn't have a threaded actuating
mechanism like the latter one that BubbaT has, maybe its
intended to be driven with a mallet or hammer, in my limited
experience with old milsurp rifles, some of those dovetailed
sights can be REALLY tight and might be a challenge to move
with a thread driven tool.
With your permission Tanker, and yours BubbaT, I'd like to
repost this question and these two images on a few other
gun related boards I belong to and see if anyone there can
be definitive with an answer.

Update on what this might be, Tanker, I posted both images
and a question on 4 other forums I belong to and so far, the
only response I've had was a speculative one that asked if it
might be intended to push a pin out but I sort of discount that
due to the diameter of the tool and where would the pin go once
you got it all the way out anyway?

My guess is you pull it back, then slide it on something and release the pin to lock it in place. The only problem is it is a very long pin. You wouldn't need half the diameter of the ring to lock something.

It doesn't look like the "tool" is designed for the pointy part to move in and out of the ring portion because there's obviously a roll pin through the shaft of the pointy part to hold it in place.

to me it looks like a center punce for a pipe or something round to get a true center. I've spent 21 yrs. in the military and was an armor for a few yr's and never seen nothing like that.

I think there is something missing from the right hand end.
