Effective almost immediately....

Post by TankerHC on Sat Feb 04, 2012 4:06 pm

Im quitting smoking. As soon as I finish the current pack, Im done. Finished. Cold Turkey. Over the last month I have developed a pretty regular cough, I find myself short of breath lately and yesterday I figured it up and I am spending around 1800-1900 dollars a year on cigarettes. Hell, thats a brand new Colt 1911! Just all of a sudden got tired of it all. GOing to use this MSGO thread to get over the hump and post progress. Like one member said in the E-Cig thread, you just gotta want to do it. Well, thats where I am.

I think that may have been me. I was a pack a day plus smoker for years and one day I just decided that I was done. I just didn't want to smoke any longer. I quit cold turkey. I still want a cigarette after I get done eating to this day, but whenever I think I want to smoke, as soon as I take a puff, I realize I was wrong. Good luck on you man, I suggest putting away the cigarette money every week into a gun fund. I wish you the best brother.

My grandfather was in his late 30's when they had my mom an was a pack a day smoker since he was 14. Mamma was born deathly allergic to cig smoke. Stopped smoking that day an never gave it a second thought.

Great idea...You can do it, just hang tough when the monkey starts clawing at your back. I went from 3 packs a day to none. Took about a year for the craving to become normal, then another couple to have zero desire. Now it's been over 30 years....Millions of others have, you can too..

Good luck Tank, I don't have a clue how I managed never to take
the habit up, on my mother's side of my family each and every
one of her siblings smoked like fiends and often since teens when
an aunt unknowingly introduced them to the unfiltered nasties
available then and every one of her siblings including her succumbed
to lung cancer except one who somehow dodged the bullet.

Crush the pack...fill it with water...take it outside and put in garbage can..

Throw all your lighters and matches away

Good Luck man, you are making the right decision for you and your loved ones! My mother smoked from the age of 10 or 11 (home-rolled cigs during the depression) until the age of 60 - unfiltered Pall Mall red - one day her doctor told her to stop & she did. Just stopped. Lived another 25 years, and never got cancer. I believe will power let her just quit cold turkey, and I wish you all the best in your choice to quit! I'll throw in a prayer for you too my friend.

Thats it, I did it. Not waiting until I run out. I gave my wife my last half pack to dispose of, got rid of all the lighters, cleaned and put away the ashtray on the porch. Im done.

You can do it!! I quit cold turkey 30 years ago and I was down to a pack a day. I was up to 3 1/2 pks a day. It won't take long for you to feel better and you notice things smell and taste better.
