Ruger SR22 First Day Out
Took the new SR22 out today for the first time. Ran about 250 rounds of Federal Champion 36gr hollow points down the tube. This little pistol is a sweet shooter I have to say. I am very pleased. Cycled very well without one stove pipe or jam. The only thing that I will testify to is that it will not tolerate a light grip one bit. Any limp wristing will cause it to short stroke and FTF. As long as you keep a nice firm grip, you are going to enjoy this little pistol. The 10 round mags feed flawlessly. All in all the first session out was a success for the SR22. I am looking forward to a lot more rounds down the tube of this little pistol.

Sounds great. I'm going to have to find one of these in a store so I can see how it feels.

Academy in Jackson has one. Don't remember the price though but I'm pretty sure it was less than the walther and they seemed visually similar

Looking for one of these. If anyone happens to spot one in a local Jackson area shop, please let me know. Hoping to find one for what Academy is asking, or less. Theirs is $329.95 plus tax, or $353 and change OTD, but none in stock and not expecting any until the end of the month or after.

Several dealers had them at the last gun show, ranged from 329 to 360

These do seem like great guns. It's about time they come out with reliable .22s that mimic the look and feel of defensive firearms instead of bullseye target guns.
I recently bought a S&W M&P22 and love it. I'll be picking up the Ruger SR22 in the future as well I'm sure.

Saw some of these at the gun show. They seem to be a better quality pistol than the Walther but very similar in appearance. I think I'll be looking to pick one up myself.

I just got my SR22 and absolutly love it.. It ate up the federal and winchester bulk ammo that choked my walther.... And of course it shot perfect with the CCI stingers and mini mags....

Re: Ruger SR22 First Day Out
Finally have one coming, I hope. Been on the waiting list at Academy for several weeks, with none showing up. Heard there would be at least one at the gunshow tomorrow, but that it would be near suggested retail, which I wasn't willing to do. Anyway, Bud's listed them as in stock this morning and I pulled the trigger on one this afternoon. I wish. Just hoping it really is coming. My order is in shipping now, so I'm hoping for the best. Paid about $12 more than I would have with tax at Academy, but I'm impatient and that seemed like a cheap enough premium to pay. looking for good things from this one.

Re: Ruger SR22 First Day Out
Finally got to bring mine home today and this has been a stressful experience, to say the least. Not sure what's going on, but I did a first today and I'm not happy with having to. Picked up my gun without an ATF approval, just the satisfied waiting period. FFL says that's just fine, but it still doesn't make me happy. Took Bud's a week to ship the doggoned thing and another week of waiting on the ATF. I even went down there Saturday and filled out a second app, which didn't please my FFL at all. No word on it yet, either. I've always been delayed, but the proceed order always came the next morning and, since I knew I didn't have anything in my history to prevent me from buying a handgun, I never worried too much about it. Don't know if I should now, or not. Still not concerned with my personal history, however I really don't have the cash to defend myself, if someone else's records have become mingled with mine somehow. Hoping this just has to do with Obama exerting a little power and/or govt budget cuts. However, I still don't think it's fair. I understand they need to be sure, but they also need to get off their a$$es and do their damned jobs. Serves nothing more than making a law abiding citizen feel like a common criminal and that very well could be by design, IMHO. It's obvious they'd prefer I didn't buy a gun at all.
Anyways, I think I'm gonna like this little plinker. It's obvoius it's much better built than the Sig or Walther. Feels like a quality piece whereas I've always thought both of them felt rather fragile and toylike. If it shoots as well as it's supposed to, I'm gonna be a very happy camper. Got her cleaned up and lubed now, so I'm hoping to take her to the range tomorrow for a good workout. Think I'll leave everything else home and make it a .22 day. Both of mine need a bunch of uninterupted range time and I've got a pile of ammo here waiting for them.

You have petty much covered all the good features of .22
cal Ruger. This is a great example of a straight blow back
gun. I purchase a mark III. Enjoyed shooting it every time.
No feed problems.
