Not going to hurt anything with the steel case really....but if you plan to ever start reloading use brass. You can go to your local walmarx and find Federal red box ammo for just a dollar or two more than the steel stuff.

And even if you don't plan to reload you could always sell the brass.

Sounds like you did pretty good for a first 1911! Enjoy!

Now that I'm thinking about it, I have heard of some folks claiming it can affect your extractor, but having put a couple thousand rounds of Tula through a couple different guns, I haven't noticed any abnormal signs of wear on either. I'd still be using it, but I've started reloading recently and have been trying to build up my brass supply.

Blackjack... you're good to go with that Springer G.I. Champion... it's one of the few M1911 pistols made using a forged frame and slide. Enjoy it and shoot it often... and don't single round load it (or any other M1911) from the top side... Cool

By the way... useless

Why is that?

I don't own one but a 1911 is on my list of things to buy.

To do so can bend or otherwise damage... and even possibly break the extractor. It's best to always load (including single rounds) from the magazine. Wink

Found it at a place in Oxford, NIB for $525. Was actually going to get a Glock but saw this actually cheaper and had to grab it

Good advice concerning extractor,it's important and easy to understand how 1911 functions. I'm still learning and highly recommend a site called m1911.org it has a lot of info for 1911 and a great forum also. I'm not sure how to post the link but it's easy to find....sweet looking pistol.hope you enjoy it. thumbs up
