Suggestions for a USPSA holster

Post by nov2662harley on Mon Feb 20, 2012 6:20 am

Hi, I'm new to competitive shooting. in fact I shot my first match this past weekend. I purchased a used Safariland competition rig for my 1911 and was told this weekend that the holster sits too low for USPSA. Any suggestions on a holster? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not sure what the competitive one would be for Single Stack division. Maybe Bryant will chime in.

I got mine from my buddy who makes holsters - www.crown3x.com - his prices are VERY reasonable (read cheaper than the rest).

A Quick search of Brian Enos forum (google search - "holster for single stack site:www.brianenos.com ") shows a great number of folks using Blade Tech holsters.

The most common recommendation for a single stack holster I see is the Ready Tactical holster.

But the guy Bdubois recommended makes a similar one for a reasonable price.

I'm not familiar with the Crown3x and wished now I would have checked out Brandon's. They do appear to be a little cheaper at $45 or so.

Ready Tactical's are popular as mentioned above. Chris Patty has the 1911 Singlestack model for $62.99:
http://www.cpwsa.com/ready_tactical.htm

Comp Tacs are another good choice ("Belt holster" $68): http://www.comp-tac.com/

Blade Tech's are ok, too, and also in the mid $60's. The dropped and offset isn't legal in Singlestack, but I
http://www.blade-tech.com/home.phpbelieve you can just remove the dropped and offset hanger to make it legal. I'd talk to them to make sure. Probably not a bad idea with any of them if it doesn't say specifically.

Holster restictions for Single Stack can be found in Appendix D5 on page 82 here: http://www.uspsa.org/rules/2010HandgunRulesProof3web.pdf

I just sent back a Comp Tac. Quality was outstanding, but the way it was formed canted it inwards, and that and the lack of any drop were making my adjustable sights snag on my shirt on every draw.

Their service in accepting the return was also outstanding, for what it is worth.

I use Blade Tech for my 1911 and my limited gun. Can't imagine a better holster.

Brandon do you prefer your Triple Crown to the Blade Tech?

They both do the same thing - Triple Crown has a 1 year warranty you break it he replaces it - and its cheaper.

WIN, WIN, WIN in my book

(I'm biased - I created the website and the owner is a personal friend of mine - however I PAY for my holsters because he does great work and it saves me over other brands)

Any idea what the turnaround time is if I order?

He is pretty fast - tell him I sent you and I bet you could have it fairly quickly.

Thats a nice holster! I talked to a friend of mine yesterday and he wants one also. We ordered both of them. I have been in contact with Troy by email getting everything started. He seems very knowledgable.
