Clinton man wins the Lottery

Post by TankerHC on Fri Apr 20, 2012 1:52 am

He bought the ticket same place I buy mine whenever I go to Vicksburg. Guess Ill have to find another place since the odds of someone winning from there again would probably be even higher than the already high odds.

$700,000 to retire on AND pay off a house with? He'll have to either have excellent money skills or higher a financial advisor. What do you think the chances of either of those are? thinking

I bet family members he's never met and people he hasn't seen since first grade are coming out of the woodwork with their hands out.

Article does not say how old he is, but with the proper skills, and moderate lifestyle, he could do fine on that amount.

They might have an agreement like a buddy of mine and I do.

Years ago we agreed that if either one of us ever won over $100K in the lottery that we'd give the other 10% of it.

Maybe that's it.

Very Happy

I used to work with him. I suspect he was already fairly close to achieving both the retirement and paying off the house before this came along. Hope he enjoys the retirement.

More power to him. Hope he does well and enjoys his retirement. He did 1 thing right. He bought a ticket. Gotta have one of them things before you can win. I invest (lol) $10/week in the lottery. A'int gonna break me, might get lucky. Pay my nickel, take my chance.

Yeah at 39 he better have some fat stacks in his 401K. $700K at around 4% (about the best you can get and stay safe) won't bring him but $28K a year b/f taxes. But hey, if he's got it where he can make it off that I'm glad for him. First thing he needs to do when he collects is toss the cell phone in the Mississipi and get a new number.

Reminds me of this saying, "I spent all my money on whiskey and women, and the rest I just wasted."
