storm lake barrel issue.. any ideas ?

Post by derrickrussell89 on Tue May 22, 2012 8:59 pm

Ok so bought a storm lake barrel in 40 s&w to use in my glock 32. Today was the first chance i got to try it. Well to put it lightly it was not a great experience i put bout 3 good rounds out of it out of maybe 14-15. It had multiple ftf and fte. Im not sure what caused the problems but the barrel is a tad longer than my stock glock barrel and it seems the feed ramp was being punished after just those few rounds it was coated in copper so im posting some pics yall give me your opinions on what the problem is . One pic is of a failure to chamber when i racked the slide back to load it and the other is after i finally got the barrel out of the frame after alot of cussing it haha thanks for any opinions.

Might need a little polish.

Yea just don't understand why they wouldn't work from the factory. You pay 200 dollars for a barrel from a reputable barrel maker it shouldn't need to be polished. But hey I'm no expert so I wouldn't know is this common ?

my wolf barrel didn't work worth a poot either. polished it up and made the bullets A LOT longer and it worked flawlessly at the mississippi classic.

the chamber on the wolf is tighter than a glock too so I have to barrel check or chamber check all rounds to make sure they all fit. I also bought the EGW undersized die. It helped out alot.

yup thank captain and cliff for that nuget. Some of those bullets factory or not are just wider than others its the inconsistency in the brass thickness that causes it. If it won't drop in out of the gun it certainly won't chamber from the mag in the gun.
