Beautiful! I've always been interested in the carbines. Have only one but won't mention its' wherefroms or manufacture in such company. It does shoot though fairly well. I put a Fulton Armory bolt assembly in it in '09.

Yep, they did!! Actually did a pretty good job on 'em, too!! They made 346,500 carbines which was about 5.7% of the total production during WWII. Many companies made many different things that they had never made before to support the war effort!! That just could not happen today .... Sad!

Good golly Miss Molly! That a covey of carbines, or a mob of M1s? Either way it's a pic full of purdy to me...nice collection. Makes my 2 "assorted parts" carbines look like orphans lol.

Re: M1 Carbines for Your Viewing Pleasure!!
that is an amazing collection I hope to have that many 1911s one day.
Quick question about the M1 carbine. I was under the impression that the M1 carbine was developed for and issued to our Airborne troops mainly due to thier smaller size etc. however I thought that specs were for them to have folding stocks on them to pack away easier during jumps... after seeing your collection I am thinking that I must be wrong about something (no suprise there) what is it?

They may have had paratrooper models with folding stocks, but I dont think the carbine itself was designed just for paratroopers.

The M1 Carbine was intended for issue to rear area troops along with speciality troops such as motar sections, etc. The Paratrooper Carbine was designated M1A1 and they were only produced by Inland. An original Inland M1A1 will command high $$s in decent shape!!

That's one beautiful (and useful) "Retirement Plan", and unlike mine, yours didn't drop 25% last year.
Maybe I better rethink my plan to acquire ONE later this year, it seems likely to become a serious affliction.

Have not really thought about it that way; however, they have held their value (actually increased in value) a lot more than any of my other investiments. Now that I think about it, the milsurp rifles (almost all of them) seem to be rising in price. Go out a buy a "new" gun and it drops in value the moment you acquire it .... ??

my grandfather told me you could go in to pawn shops and nic nac shops back in the day and you could find a M1 Carbine, Garands, and 1911s for about 25 bucks he said you could see barrels of 1911s stacked up to the top.
