Getting frustrated

Post by fortydelta on Wed Jan 02, 2013 7:22 pm

My partners and myself just haven't been seeing the deer this year. It seems like they only move overnight. We see tracks and scrapes and such, but never see them morning mud day or evening. Even last year with all the warm weather they were moving better. I wonder what's going on with them?

yall need to get out in the woods at night and ride around on your four wheelers. Then when you hunt in the morning walk to your stands instead of riding the 4 wheelers. It'll trick em.

While this may work I would bet that it is more of a moon phase thing

Ha that's a good idea. It's just weird that they are all shut down this year. Adjacent property owners are saying the same thing. Last year we had dropped close to 12 by this time. This year: 3.

It's the same way where I hunt. Untill last week we have only killed 1 buck and he was a scrub buck. Did take 5 nice ones Friday-Monday but the rut is on full speed.

I think they are all in my backyard, i see at least 5 different does a day. Do not see a lot of bucks, but there was a nice 8 point a few days ago.

I agree. Five of us hunt ~120 acres at different times, usually no more than 2 or 3 out there any given time. Cameras say deer are there. We had lots of doe before season started, and had planned to shoot nothing but doe to thin them out somewhat. We saw a few deer early on in the season, and it's slowed down since then. Hopefully these last two weeks will be better. Heck, I put my gun up today. That means they'll be all over the place.

rut is on at our place, but someone forgot to tell the bucks they are supposed to chase during the day. ha!

most of whats going on at our place is at night, altho we have taken a few doe and smaller bucks, and i have seen one nice buck. most of what we are seeing is in the evening just before dark. they stay up all night.

My BIL shot a 13 point this afternoon right at dark. He was leaving the blind and sneezed, which with his cold made his nose bleed. He sat back down to wait for it to stop and the buck came out. Lucky bas***d was born with a horseshoe up his butt.
