22 Ammo Availability

Post by g2072 on Sun Jan 13, 2013 9:11 pm

I'm still seeing guys that say they cannot find 22 ammo. All the stores where I live have plenty in stock. Prices aren't great but they aren't that bad either. I live in central ms. Just wanted to throw it out there in case anybody needs some and can't find it.

Nobody in jackson area i know has any 22 long rifle in stock, i have looked while out and about. Some have had 22 mag or cbs or shorts. Have not seen the first box of 17hmr yet since the hysteria except the one i bought today at the gun show. It was a few dollars more than normal, but i did not have any at all for the new rifle.

Its basically non existent on the coast. Have found some match ammo, shorts and shot, but no HV or SV LR. I don't shoot the match ammo cause of FTE/FTF in some semi auto's.

I would love to find CCI Segmented Subsonic for sale somewhere. I'd like to pick up a thousand rounds minimum.

Walmart in Flowood had a 17hmr on Sunday, don't think it ever sold out. No .22 LR though

I just gave up and went on gunbroker. Bought 5k rounds of cci standard velocity. Waiting for some other websites to get their stock back up before i get some other stuff. All the walmarts around me are out. The gun stores have only match grade $10/box ammo or stinky aquila 20 grain low power crap. I got a great price on the cci so im sticking with online.

Checked my favorite online dealer this afternoon and they finally had some for the first time in a week. It was federal copper plated hollow points, 36 grain. Bet it's all gone by now, even at $37 for a 525 rd brick.

Haven't seen any in the Brandon, Flowood, Jackson area in weeks except at bass pro (american eagle 40 round boxes) they had about 20 for $2.18 but they were in the wrong place on the shelf so everyone walked past, I picked up 5. I went back two days later and none was to be found.

This is becoming quite frustrating, I love to shoot my .22's as much as the next man, but if I can't re stock my ammo cans i'm reluctant to do so.

Back to the reloading press I suppose.

This just blows my mind anyone running out of 22 lr ammo. I am not a hoarder or anything but I buy 22 ammo all the time. Its a ammo I will never run low on. I keep 10 to 12 bulk boxes on my ammo shelf all the time it's cheap and is used a lot by me. I shoot 22's all year round and keep around 500 in my truck all the time. When I run low in the truck I dump another box in my bag for the truck and the next trip to town I buy more and put it on the shelf. When I empty 1 box I will pick up 2 to replace it. Or either just pick up a 550 box whenever I'm at a sporting goods place and see it. I have always kept a bunch of 22 ammo on hand I guess it comes from having a son with a habbit of always going shooting and never having ammo. I kept him and myself supplied for many years and with two of us shooting out of my ammo most of the time it just got to be a habbit to keep plenty. Now he's grown and gone from home so my ammo goes a lot farther than before. But I still buy ammo whenever I am out and about just to have it.

He had four bricks and six boxes. Held me to a one brick limit. Thanks to the members here that offered a heads-up. I should have posted that two months ago.

Shooter!
I went by there and asked about getting a brick. They said no. He doesn't want to sell it by the brick. He is rationing it out so other customers have a chance to buy some. They said a fella got lucky and bought a brick before they knew how he was selling it. Ha! Ha!

It may come to that since we cant really reload 22lr on our own. Anyone have a machine that can do that? I finally got a reloader setup this year for 300 blk.
