Any Bayonet Collectors/Hobbiest?

I am always looking for M1903, M1917, M1 Carbine, and Garand Bayonets. If you have one to part with, let me know!!

When I first really got interested in vintage US military rifles, I could not afford but a couple ... the next best thing was the bayonets that rode on this warriors. Years ago you could pick them up here and there for very reasonable prices. After doing some research on these implements of war, I got hooked on the Garand bayonets manufactured by Wilde Tool Company. WT was a small tool company located in KC, Missouri (It is still there and operating today !!)

In late 1941, the US Government issued contracts to Wilde Drop Forge and Tool Company, Kansas City, Missouri (WT); Utica Cutlery Company, Utica, New York (UC); and Union Fork and Hoe Company, Columbus, Ohio (UFH). These contracts anticipated the beginning of deliveries in late 1941. With the world situation growing closer and closer to war, three other contractors were given contracts to be issued on an "as needed" basis. These companies were Pal Blade and Tool Company (PAL), Holyoke, Mass.; Oneida, Ltd., Oneida, NY (OL); and American Fork and Hoe Company, Evansville, IN (AFH). With our entry into the WWII, the 3 of the new contractor were ordered to start production as rapidly as possible. During the period 1942-1943, more than 1.5M bayonets were delivered to the armed forces.

As you can see, WT only made about 60,000 bayonets out of the 1.5M produced. This is why I found them interesting. They are not as well made as most of the other manufacture’s bayonets -- the tooling was bad in many cases and they all were void of final finishing/polishing.

I have one small one for my M1 Garand...it looks old is all I know...That brown on there is not rust....It was a fairly expensive item

Yeah I guess it is for my carbine...Its been a while.

How do you tell who made it?

It has no dates on it or markings that I can tell..Well there is one mark on the end of the handle...Handle is leather I guess.

It's not for sale....was just giving a bayonet "poor man's" showing....

Very nice collection, captain . I've only got four of them (two by mistake ) Plus the two you got me for the Carbines and also a couple of other bayonets that I'm not sure which rifle they are for, Yugo Mauser possibly.

Here are some of my bayonets; first 2 bayonets for the Swedish M1896 and M1941 Mausers. These are all steel, top one make by Eskilstuna Jernmanufactur AB, bottom one by Carl Gustafs Gevärsfaktori, both mfgs are in Eskilstuna, Sweden:

They are, L to R: Hungarian AKM, Bulgarian AKM/AK-74, Bulgarian AK-74, East German AKM/AK-74, Chinese AK, Czech VZ. 58

And 2 M1 Garand bayonets. The top one is AFH 1943, painted gray w/ scabbard. The bottom one is UFH 1943, in rough shape. My wife's late stepfather was a lineman for Entergy; he found the UFH embedded in a light pole in the woods.
And finally, an H&K G3 bayonet. This has a 9" blade, the largest I've ever seen for the G3, with a laminated wood scabbard. Made in Germany and apparently has a high Nickel content in the steel as it has turned a nice plum color over the decades. It's all that's left of my HK addiction back in the 1980s:

Here's a few K98 bayonets... Dates ranging from 1937-1944 (matching numbers on scabbards and blades). Frogs are also original and dated. Also a few of my Jap bayonets... Ashamed to say I don't have a single Garand bayonet!

pretty nice eye candy, I used to collect them but really don't have any now.
