Montana & Utah Gun Laws ? Whats going on.

Post by GunOneDown on Fri May 08, 2009 8:48 am

Heard some info as these 2 states and soon to follow Texas are about to separate from the Union pertaining to the 2nd Amendment and some violation by the Govt. which violated the states contract to enter the Union way back when. I wanted some other info or views on this.

Not heard anything. Well BHO wants to be like Lincoln, he might preside over another national split? Just kidding, I hope, where can you find info on this?

I think its all rumors. They cant separate as easy as texas from what I heard. Its not gonna happen anytime soon. Why would we want to bust up into small countries? So China can come reclaim their money easier and turn us communist?

I figure you're right, does anyone know how the 2nd Amendment fits in?

These states are strong supporters of the second amendment...Montana especially. Remember when Obama stoped the sell of surplus military brass a month or so ago? Well the senators from Montana got that reversed. I want a ranch in Montana!

Here is a of link for a couple of news articles regarding Montana and Texas:

http://www.uslaw.com/library/Obama_Citizenship/States_Rights_Update_Second_Amendment_Montana_Soon_Court_Texas_Bill_Co.php?item=460083

Agree with Rbelote in that we are not actually talking about separating from the union ... they seem to be making the point that the Federal government is too intrusive and they are using the interstate commerce issue to make that point.

K, my first impression was just someone in those states making a protest, but I like the idea.

I read one of the articles about making our own guns and ammo in the state, and the government not being able to regulate it. Anyone want to help with a startup company? Wink

Sounds good to me. Would Jackson have to take any actions to include us, or would a favorable outcome in those states help here?

Looks like Montana is setting itself up to be the "test case" .. Of course the Federal Gov. does not agree with their stance; thus they will fight it. Probably going to be a long, long fight (many, many years) with the US Supreme Court making the final decision. If it makes it to the Supreme Court, the ruling will have precedent throughout the US - every state!! I wish Montanta the best of luck!!

If and when I move again, It will be Montana. I always wanted to live there and this just adds to my want to go sooner. Although my better half said she would only come visit in the summer. told her I would hafta clear it with my new girlfriend first. Razz
seriously, they will be in for a fight for sure. The fight will last until we're all dead and gone I'm sure, but maybe our children could be around to see the results.

They have a good point. If a product is made in a state and sold in the same state they, the feds, should be out of the loop regulation wise.

The feds are saying that since a gun made in state can be taken out of the state so easily, it needs to be regulated as interstate commerce. Name one product that cannot be transported across state lines. Some more of the gov. bull

I say Go Montana Go!

I hope they get this done and then you'll see the population start rising in that state for sure. I'm going to be on that wagon.

Agree, but our state govt. is not as friendly to gun rights as the population at large
